Bait collection in the South East region

Autumn and Spring are critical times for land managers to implement baiting programs to reduce wild dog and fox populations, minimising their impact on livestock and vulnerable native wildlife. South East Local Land Services works alongside 13 wild dog working groups and various community-led programs to ensure coordinated wild dog and fox control across all land types.

Landholders in the South East region can collect baits free of charge by joining local pest animal management groups and becoming a Feral Fighter. This allows landholders to work together to bait simultaneously to cover a wide area, which results in a better knockdown.

New Feral Fighter participants should contact their local LLS office where our staff will provide all the information on how to join an existing or establish a new Feral Fighters program in their area. Existing Feral Fighter participants can contact their local group coordinator to register their interest for an upcoming program.

There are several programs and bait collection points across the South East region. See locations below to find your closest point or get in touch with your local biosecurity officer for alternate arrangements.

All properties involved in 1080 baiting programs require approval from an Authorised Control Officer prior to issue and baits must be ordered a minimum of 3 days prior to the collection date.

Baiting occurs throughout the South Coast and Far South Coast regions for feral fighter and other community-led programs all-year round - often, baiting timeframes can change.
