Farewell Sue

Sue Logie cleaning seed in the old Murray CMA Seedbank at BerriganSue Logie has decided it’s time to wind down towards retirement.

This reprieve has been well earned after so many years of dedicated service, taking on the challenges of natural resource management. The perspective Sue has gained over this time is invaluable, observing changes in seasonal conditions, the gradual impact of climate change on our environment, and the changes in land management practices, attitudes to conservation, and the changes in NRM organisational structures.

Sue has contributed enormously over the years, working with Greening Australia and Murray CMA helping landholders with their projects, and then working in the Murray Seedbank and the direct seeding operation with Murray LLS.

Those who have had the privilege of working with Sue will have felt her passion for environmental conservation and her in-depth knowledge of native vegetation restoration. Sue will always take the time to share her knowledge and wisdom with others assisting them to build their understanding of the importance of conservation and techniques in native vegetation restoration.
The on-ground legacy that Sue will leave is enormous, including millions of trees and shrubs providing important habitat for our native fauna such as insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals.

In observing the reduced reliability of seed, Sue championed the need to establish seed production areas both on public and private land. With 12 of these now operational in the Murray region, Sue has helped secure native seed supply into the future.

Over the last five years, Sue had contributed to the development of comprehensive systems and processes to make the Murray Seedbank one the best in the country.

Sue will be sorely missed within Murray Local Land Services; however, we don’t think Sue will be able to stop being involved in conservation efforts in a hurry, so you may well see her out and about on the roadside looking for that particular seed or looking up in the trees for Superb Parrots.

Thank you, Sue, for your contribution to environmental conservation, making it a better world both today and for many years to come.
