The Far South Coast Agriculture team will be hosting a series of workshops for livestock owners who want to learn more about planning for farm water security and supply in variable seasonal conditions.

Our presenters:

Paul Park from Soil and Water Solutions comes with years of experience & extensive technical knowledge and application of soil conservation principles and practices. He currently leads a multi-disciplinary team of professional environmental consultants in designing and managing civil and environmental construction projects.

Dave O’Donnell works with farmer groups in both NSW and Tasmania, he has been involved in farm water use, pumping and irrigation for over 20 years, has seen many technologies come and go. Dave will talk about ways that can make farm water use more efficient such as solar pumping, starting pumps remotely and monitoring systems that enable you to check flows and water levels on farm.

Workshops cover:

  • Understanding total farm water requirements
  • Dam siting, design and construction
  • Harvestable rights, catchments, stream order and licensing requirements
  • Determining the size and type of water storages available or needed
  • What are the best options for setting up a reliable and useful farm water system?
