NSW Grasslands Society conference shifts online

The 32nd Conference of The Grassland Society of NSW titled ‘Pathway to Productive Pastures’ was to be held in Mittagong on the 20-21 July 2021. However, due to recent COVID restrictions, the conference will now run on a virtual platform only. The conference program will provide a range of talks focusing on key elements to help build/maintain pasture productivity and resilience.

A snapshot of the presentations to be delivered include:

  • Farming Forecaster: the new way for producers to assess seasonal risks
  • Permanent electric fencing
  • Results of long-term grazing demonstration in the Crookwell district
  • Getting started on the pasture pathway
  • Understanding and managing soil acidity
  • Soil fertility: you can’t manage what you don’t measure
  • Rejuvenation of run-down perennial pastures
  • Managing the establishment of productive perennial pastures
  • Grain and graze systems in a high rainfall zone environment
  • Opportunities to build soil organic carbon
  • Adding “carbon farming for carbon trading” to your productive pastures
  • Carbon Neutral by 2030 roadmap for the Australian red meat industry.

The conference will be streamed live on 20 and 21 July 2021. Registration to the conference will offer:

  • Live virtual attendance
  • Conference proceedings and bus tour booklets
  • A recording of the conference for future reference

  • A seat on the bus tour with lunch and morning/afternoon teas provided (date to be advised).
