Flood watch for Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast

Livestock producers in the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast are urged to move animals and infrastructure such as pumps and farm machinery to higher ground, with the latest forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology predicting flooding across this area in coming days.

With heavy rainfall forecast for parts of the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast from today into Tuesday and Wednesday, and catchments already saturated following significant flooding in recent weeks, this rainfall has the potential to result in moderate to major flooding along the Richmond, Wilsons, Orara and Bellinger Rivers from Tuesday and minor to moderate flooding for other coastal catchments.

NSW Department of Primary Industries and Local Land Services are encouraging all producers in these areas to make sure they have current flood plans in place.

To help producers prepare for flooding, they can download the Local Land Services’ Farm Flood Readiness kit.

Flood-affected landholders should continue requesting assistance through the Agricultural and Animal Services Hotline by calling 1800 814 647 (operating 7 days, 8am to 8pm).

Landholders can request emergency fodder for livestock, animal assessment, veterinary advice and if required, euthanasia and burial via the hotline.
