The spring fox baiting program has kicked off with collection days across the Murray region throughout September.
Foxes and feral pigs are the main pests that all landholders should target this spring. Perfect conditions for breeding and plenty of feed and cover have led to an increase in the population.
Murray Local Land Services coordinate group fox baiting twice a year, in autumn and spring. This encourages landholders to bait simultaneously to cover a wider area to achieve a better knockdown. Fox control not only helps to protect your livestock but helps native wildlife which are vulnerable during their breeding season, including ground-nesting birds and turtles.
All landholders should have received a ‘Spring Fox Baiting 2022’ booklet in the post. The booklet contains all the information you need about training requirements, placing a bait order and collection days in your local area.
Landholders can obtain pest animal baits throughout the year by appointment. Contact your local Biosecurity Officer on 1300 795 299 to discuss your situation and requirements.
