Get the lay of the land through advisory group involvement

Landholders wanting to represent their communities and share knowledge and resources from Central West Local Land Services are invited to apply for membership of the Central West Community Advisory Group (CAG).

The organisation is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for six new CAG members to sit a three-year term on the group, which includes participating in interactive meetings and workshops.

Current Central West Local Land Services CAG Chair Belinda Nugent joined the group three years ago and encouraged others to consider taking part.

“It’s been great to find out more about what Local Land Services does and be able to share that information with other landholders,” Mrs Nugent said.

“There is very little time commitment involved, maybe four meetings a year. The meetings are great; you hear relevant topics and have opportunities for networking.”

The group involved membership from landholders from across the region with a diversity of enterprises and ages, Mrs Nugent said.

“It’s a great group of everyday people with a mix of experience and backgrounds," she said.

“I’m a newer farmer, I ask a lot of questions and have to rely on others.

“It’s been great to have access to impartial contacts and resources offered by Local Land Services and we’ve even had guest speakers from time-to-time at the meetings.”

Mrs Nugent runs two mixed farming properties south west of Dubbo with her husband Shaun and said the self-development and learning opportunities had been useful from her time with the group.

“There are so many resources available for landholders and it really doesn’t matter what size of farming enterprise you are.”

Expressions of interest to join the Central West Local Land Services CAG close on Friday, 25 February. Visit or call Brooke Kirkman on 0427 069 851 for further information.
