The podcast sharing local farmers' stories for 12 months

Central West Local Land Services are celebrating the one year anniversary of their podcast ‘Seeds for Success’ – sharing stories of farmers from the region over the past 12 months.

Hosted by Central West LLS Team Leader Agricultural Services, Neroli Brennan, the podcast has covered everything from how people got through drought, to the pros and cons of corporate farms, to managing lambing ewes and creep feeding cattle.

Ms Brennan said the podcast, which has been downloaded more than 12,000 times and maintained a five star rating on Apple Podcasts, aims to make life easier for busy farmers by sharing information they can listen to while on the tractor or driving to town.

“The nature of farming means that producers are often working the land rather than getting together and sharing information. They’re also fairly modest in their own achievements and how they’ve managed to overcome challenges or improve production.

“We realised that many of our landholders would find these stories interesting and valuable and could apply some of the lessons to their own farming activities. Recent feedback has indicated people are being inspired by these stories and even making changes to their operations.”

To date the podcast has featured producers from across the region including Molong, Coonamble, Purlewaugh, Binnaway, Gulargambone, Trundle, Tullamore, Coolah, Trangie, Warren, Mendooran, Bugaldie and Kenebri.

“We have been honoured to bring local stories to life and share them with a wider audience, as well as sharing the learnings for people to pick and choose what might work on their place.”

One year on the podcasting team is undergoing some changes with popular District Vet Dr Jill Kelly hanging up her mic and new interviewers Jasmine Wells from Condobolin and Dubbo lads Rohan Leach and Tim Bartimote coming on board.

“It’s great the show has developed quite a following now and whilst we understand listeners will be disappointed not to hear more from Jill we are confident they will enjoy future chats covering topics such as ag tech, the dairy industry, soil and salinity and natural resource management with the new presenters.”

The Seeds for Success Podcast can be found on the Central West Local Land Services website via lls.nsw.gov.au/seeds, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts and Spotify, with new episodes added fortnightly.
