2021 Life and Light in the Western Region Photo Competition winners announced

The beauty and uniqueness of the Western region of NSW, and the people, places and flora and fauna within it, were on full display in the winning entries of this year’s Life and Light in the Western Region Photo Competition.

The esteemed photo competition, which has now been running for over 20 years, proved to be as popular as ever this year with 382 entries across six categories received. All images were automatically entered in the people’s choice category where the winning entry was decided through ‘likes’ via the competition’s Facebook page.

Photos taken at twilight again proved popular, with the image of a child collecting wildflowers at sunset taking out the ‘People’s choice’ and ‘People and places’ category. The photo was submitted by Emma Crameri who has been a regular entrant in the competition.

All of the images judged were taken in the Western Local Land Services region and linked to the theme ‘Appreciating the Little Things’.

The Life and Light Photo Competition is run jointly by Western Local Land Services and Western Landcare NSW, with support of sponsors and partners making the $4,750 in prize money possible.

This year’s sponsors and partners comprised of six organisations in the Royal Flying Doctor Service – South Eastern Section, National Recovery and Resilience Agency, Environmental Construction Operations, Kangaroo Management Taskforce, Far West Rural Supplies and Shutterbug Services.

Winning entries will be on display at the RFDS Wellbeing Place in Broken Hill from 29 June onwards. For further information on the photo competition, and to view galleries of the images from this year and previous years, visit the Life and Light website.
