North West Beef Producers Forum

Understanding how to adapt a beef operation for the best chance of success can be a challenge in today’s changing industry landscape, with new technologies, supply chain and sustainability factors emerging.

To help local beef producers find more certainty in their business decision making, North West Local Land Services will be hosting the 8th annual North West Beef Producers Forum on 15 May 2025 at the Tangaratta Vineyards in the Tamworth region.

Tailored for beef producers, the event will feature practical advice from leading industry research agencies, feedlot managers, buyers, meat and soil scientists, as well as local producers already implementing changes on farm.

We are excited to bring you a stellar line up of speakers, including:

  • soil moisture outlook, and introducing the SWAT21 Tool - Dr Sean Murphy, DPIRD
  • lessons from measuring methane on pasture and in the feedlot - Dr Rachelle Hergenhan, University of New England
  • how can feedlots contribute to the resilience and sustainability of Australia's livestock production? - Caitlin Herbert, Gundamain Pastoral Co, Nuffield Scholar
  • a producer’s perspective - Lucy and Gerard Gallagher
  • MSA grading and live demo - Pete McGilchrist, Southern Multibreed MSA, University of New England
  • international perspectives on carbon farming - Pippa Jones, Local Land Services, SQNNSW Innovation Hub, 2024 Nuffield Scholar
  • a sustainable future: a snapshot of Teys operations - Ethan Mooney, TEYS
  • regional update: grazing technology and pasture dieback - Sally Balmain and Liam Baker, North West Local Land Services

Teys Australia are generously supplying the beef for the event’s lunch - morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The event is free for the first time this year, but registration is essential as places are limited.
