2022 autumn wild dog control program

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION: 1080 aerial baiting for wild dog control, autumn 2022

Farmers, public and private landholders and Central Tablelands Local Land Services are working together to protect our valuable agricultural industry and precious wildlife from the impact of predation from wild dogs.

We wish to advise that an autumn aerial control program targeting wild dogs will be undertaken between 2 May 2022 and 15 May 2022.

This program aims to assist local landholders in the control of wild dogs, and foxes in inaccessible country.

The program will involve aerial baiting using manufactured 1080 baits. Baiting will be conducted on public land, including Crown Land and Forestry land, as well as private properties. Baits will only be laid on properties where consent to bait has been received.

1080 baits pose a high risk to domestic and working dogs. Residents and people visiting these areas need to ensure domestic and working dogs are restrained and do not enter the baiting location during baiting operations. In the event of accidental poisoning, seek immediate veterinary assistance.
