Erosion Control Basics: Somerton

Join North West Local Land Services in Somerton for a workshop on controlling erosion on your property.

This free event will give land managers knowledge of the design principles of farm earthworks and erosion control structures including:

  • a whole farm approach to erosion control,
  • soil types, and their impact on runoff and erosion,
  • working with neighbours (whole catchment planning),
  • contour bank design, spacing, length and gradient,
  • broadacre and small farm contour bank systems,
  • managing erosion gullies,
  • maintenance of farm earthworks

The day will include indoor and extensive field inspection sessions. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

When travelling to the event, please follow field day signs (not Google) from Manilla. Please note if travelling from Attunga, the Top Somerton Rd is closed at Norris’ Bridge.
