Biological weed control workshop
Biological control is a reliable, cost-effective and well-researched method of managing some of NSW’s most environmentally destructive weeds. The workshop is suitable for everyone from council weed officers to landholders or anyone interested in local weed biocontrol options.
Dr Andrew Mcconnachie, Senior Research Scientist in the Weeds Research Unit at NSW Department of Primary Industries, will cover the following:
- an introduction to biocontrol theory
- current research and availability of local biocontrol agents
- biocontrol agent rearing and releasing best practice
- assisting with the monitoring of your local biocontrol agents in the field.
Rae Kwong, Senior Research Scientist within the Biosciences Research Division of Agriculture Victoria, will cover the following:
- Sagittaria biocontrol program
- Sagittaria weevil release at a nearby local site
