Niall Blair media release: Setting a target on pest animals
29 June 2018
A new approach to tackling the devastating impact of pest animals on the state’s environment and primary industries will take effect from this Sunday, with the introduction of Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plans backed by an additional $6 million.
Minister for Primary Industries, Niall Blair said the plans are a result of a statewide process in which local community groups had their say on priority pest species and the best control options.
“To have all landholders, both public and private, come together, set a strategy and develop plans at both a state and regional level is not an easy task but I believe these plans will hit the mark,” Mr Blair said.
