***EVENT POSTPONED*** Tactical Grazing Management workshop

In the interest of public safety and in accordance with government advice to reconsider all non-essential travel and the hosting of larger scale events, we have decided to postpone this event.

This decision has been made with the understanding that whilst our region is currently considered a low-risk area for Covid-19, the health and wellbeing of our community must come first.

Please watch this page for updates on when this event, and others, will be rescheduled.

****

The workshop will cover principles of tactical grazing management, including pasture and livestock production, and planning for changing seasonal conditions.

Skills obtained from completing the course include:

  • measuring groundcover
  • estimating the amount of forage and determining stocking rates
  • estimating digestibility of feed
  • judging how well animal requirements are being met
  • identifying key pasture species
  • monitoring utilisation level of key perennial plant species
  • estimating shrub cover and the impact on potential pasture growth
  • assessing livestock - fat scoring sheep
  • setting up a long-term monitoring system.

Places are limited, please register as early as possible, with final registrations due by 17 April.

The workshop will run from 8:30 am to 4 pm each day, with morning tea and lunch provided.

We are running this workshop in partnership with NSW Department of Primary Industries, and they are made possible thanks for funding from the Australian Government's National Landcare Program.
