Managing outback floodplains workshop (Wilcannia)

Landholders, community groups and stakeholders are invited to attend a workshop which presents a great opportunity to learn about floodplain functions and threatening processes.

The managing outback floodplains workshop will cover both localised floodplains as well as river floodplains and will be highly valuable for landholders to attend.

  • Paul Theakston — Paul is a Rangeland Rehabilitation Officer and works throughout the Western region. Paul will be presenting on the tehcniques landholders can use to rehydrate the landscapes they manage.
  • Marita Pearson — Marita has conducted PhD research on gully erosion along the Darling river and the affects this has on floodplain and river health. Marita will be presenting her latest research in this area.
  • James McClure — James is hosting the workshop and he will speak about the projects he is involved in, including a rangeland rehabilitation project, which will be inspected on the day.

RSVP by 10 June to Paul on the details provided for catering purposes. This workshop is supported by Western Local Land Services, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
