Recruitment underway for South East Regional Weeds Committee Chair

South East Local Land Services is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates to take on the role of Chair of the South East Regional Weeds Committee (SERWC).

A volunteer position, the Chair plays a key role in shaping the South East’s response to both established and emerging weed management issues.

“This is a great opportunity for someone with board level experience and a knowledge of weed management to help support South East communities in their ongoing tussle with weeds” said South East Local Land Services’ Invasive Species Coordinator Megan Wyllie.

“Invasive weeds pose a real threat to our productive and natural environments and impact industries and communities across the South East.

“The role will be especially important as the region recovers from the recent Southern Fires”.

The Chair works with the other members of the committee, land managers, local governments and other government agencies and community groups to plan, facilitate, and coordinate regional strategic weed planning and assists with education and community outreach programs.

The role is usually recruited for three to four years. It is an unpaid position, but some travel and accommodation costs involved with the role will be covered.

Expressions of Interest are required by 31 March 2020. For more information and a copy of the role description please contact Megan Wyllie on 0447 695 480.
