Update from the General Manager

January/February 2020

The last few months have been an extremely distressing time for the vast majority of land managers and communities in the South East. The Southern fires have devastated communities and landscapes and left an indelible mark on us all.

The South East Local Land Services team has been working closely with all emergency organisations to ensure we are supporting land managers as much as possible during this disaster.

We have a specific role to play in the Animal and Agricultural Services Functional Area (AASFA) responding to animal welfare issues – providing emergency fodder, water and veterinary services and, more broadly, assisting land managers with the recovery of their agriculture production and landscapes.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the assistance and contribution of our colleagues and partners from across the state who have traveled down to help out in the emergency response. Their work and commitment has been appreciated by us all.

We are still involved in the AASFA response but we are also working with local councils, industry groups and other government agencies on our plans for recovery support across fire affected areas.

We will keep you up to date with these plans as they evolve. If you have any questions please contact your local office or feel free to give me a call (0447 774 863).

Regards,

Anthony
