South Coast Natural Resource Management grants
The Local Land Services team on the Illawarra/South Coast (Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven) are seeking expressions of interest from land managers wanting to improve, protect and enhance waterways, riparian zones and existing stands of native vegetation on their properties over the 2021/2022 financial year.
Priority activities for grant funding include:
- installation of fencing to exclude stock from waterways and saltmarshes
- revegetation of riparian zones (land along the edge of waterways) to improve bank stability, reduce run-off and improve habitat for native wildlife
- minor erosion control works along waterways
- protection, enhancement, and improvement of remnant native vegetation and wildlife corridors for threatened species such as glossy black cockatoo, threatened large forest owls and platypus.
Getting involved:
You can download an Expression of Interest form here. Please note Expressions of Interest are due no later than 30 August 2021.

These projects will build on the projects implemented across the South Coast in previous years and will seek to further increase the connectivity and biodiversity of the area and to improve water quality. This work is particularly important as the area continues to recover from the 2019/20 bushfires.
These projects will be carried out by South East Local Land Services via support from the NSW Government’s Marine Estate Strategy and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
