North West TSR update May 2020

Due to significant rainfall events throughout the district, North West Local Land Services has revised and amended its walking stock policy and conditions and are now able to accept applications for entry to the North West travelling stock route (TSR) Network.
North West Local Land Services rangers continue to conduct inspections of the TSR network assessing pasture and water point recovery.
It is important that our TSRs are able to recover to a point that they able sustain an increase of stock numbers after the recent prolonged drought conditions and we have put some guidelines in place to ensure we have full and ongoing recovery of perennial pastures.
Applicants should be advised that special conditions will apply as a supplement to normal walking stock Conditions.
These will include but may not be restricted to:
- Maximum mob size of 600 dry cattle or 6,000 dry sheep
- Cows and calves will not be permitted on the TSR
- Cows within 12 weeks of calving will not be permitted on the TSR
- Cows that calve on the TSR must be removed from the mob within 48 hours
- Ewes and lambs will not be permitted on the TSR
- Ewes within eight weeks of lambing will not be permitted on the TSR
- Ewes that lamb on the TSR must be removed from the mob within 48 hours
- All stock entering the TSR must be capable of walking the prescribed distance per day (10 kilometers a day)
- Requests for slow travel will be determined by a TSR ranger if deemed appropriate
- A minimum of five kilometers a day.
