Murray Feral Fighters bait collection
Baiting on your land is one tool in the toolbox to effectively manage pest animals. Local Land Services works with landholders to provide training programs, and supply baits for pest animal management activities on-farm.
In the Murray region, landholders can become Feral Fighters by joining local pest animal management groups and can work with other landholders to bait simultaneously to cover a wide area, which results in a better knockdown.
By participating to become a Feral Fighter you will receive:
- free vertebrate pesticide induction training (now available online)
- 2 x free 1080 corflute fox signs per participant
- 2 x free biosecurity farm gate signs per participant per year
- rabbit control - access to free RHDV K5 viability testing for group participants
- up-to-date information and support from Murray Local Land Services.
Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training
It is a requirement for all landholders who use pesticides on their property to have the correct certifications. Local Land Services offers free training to landholders which allows you to use 1080 and Pindone baits.
You can complete the Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training online or in person at one of the available dates this season.

Bait collection in the Murray region
To order baits you need to call the biosecurity officer at your chosen pick up location at least 3 days before the collection date. Our staff will be able to step you through what you need to know about bait collection.
Some important points about collecting your baits.

- You must call the contact listed for the location you wish to attend - they will help you order your baits and step you through what you need to know.
- Cost of fox baits all locations - $0.50c per wing or $1.00 per red meat/offal bait. A minimum $10.00 charge for invoicing.
- Commercially prepared Foxoff baits are available, please contact our offices for current prices.
- You will need to bring your current certification card.
Note: face-to-face training is required with a biosecurity officer for those wishing to use Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE).
