Seed Collection and Propagation Workshops
Hunter Local Land Services would like to invite you to join like-minded community members to learn more about native seed collection and propagation in a series of workshops being held in Merriwa and Murrurundi.
The workshops are split over three days:
Merriwa: 22 June, 1 - 4pm & 23 June, 9am – 12noon
Murrurundi: 23 June, 2 - 5pm & 24 June, 9am – 12noon
(Preference is for participants to attend both sessions at one venue)
These two, half-day sessions include the following topics:
- Basic equipment, setting up and watering requirements
- Identifying plants and seed types – drupes, hard coated seeds, pods
- Timing for collection, storage and slow germinators
- Seed raising and potting mixes
- Treatment of seed types prior to planting – soak, boil, scour, smoke
- Collect cuttings and process*Plant health – signs and prevention of stress and disease
- Take home a seedling!
