Save our scarlet robin
South East Local Land Services has received financial support from the NSW Government via the Environmental Trust, Saving Our Species and Catchment Action NSW Programs to implement a long term project with the vision of “Local Community Action towards the Recognition and Protection of the scarlet robin and its’ habitat”.
From 2016-2026, the project will provide opportunities for local landholders to obtain practical information about actions that individuals can take to improve habitat for local woodland bird populations. The first 5 years provided opportunities to receive funding to protect existing habitat and establish new patches of native vegetation. Events were also run to improve skills in bird identification, revegetation and pest control.
These events were run in collaboration with our project partners including K2C, Molonglo Conservation Group, Upper Murrumbidgee Landcare Committee and Upper Shoalhaven Landcare Council and there will be others to follow. The last 5 years of the project shift towards maintenance and monitoring of our project sites with a continued focus on building the profile of the scarlet robin and other species, in the community.
