Greater Sydney
Maree Whelan and Angela Maier work together in a job share arrangement for the Every Bit Counts project in the Greater Sydney region. Maree has been working in engagement and education roles for Greater Sydney Local Land Services since January 2014, and prior to this worked as an Education Officer for the Hunter Central Rivers Catchment Management Authority. Angela has been working for Local Land Services since 2014, and prior to that worked as Regional Landcare Coordinator and Natural Resource Management Officer for Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority.
In their role as project officer for the Every Bit Counts program, Angela and Maree coordinate face-to-face sustainable land management workshops/field days, newsletters and online resources for rural and tree changer landholders in the Greater Sydney region.
Another key focus of the role is to provide support to Local Land Services staff, local Landcare networks and other stakeholders including local government agencies to help them engage with peri-urban landholders in the Greater Sydney region.
Maree also manages the Volunteer Coordinators Network for Bushcare in Greater Sydney and has a keen interest in helping Landcare partner with landholders in the area of sustainable land management. Angela has been involved in the Sydney-based Absentee Landholder project.
South East
Marien Stark, South East Regional Agricultural Landcare Facilitator.
Marien is based in our Berry office and supports the networks of community groups who are passionate about caring for the natural resources in South East including South East Landcare and the South East Regional Community of Practice.
Marien works with staff across the South East Region coordinating and delivering opportunities for landholders, community groups and other agencies share knowledge and improve their land management practices.
Hunter
Lori McKern is the Engagement Officer for Hunter Local Land Services based out of the Scone office.
She is a small landholder in the district sharing her block with a small flock of sheep, chickens, horses and dogs. Lori is an avid gardener and loves spending time improving the land and tending to her animals. She has a background in animal science, husbandry and marketing. Contact Lori.
North Coast
Stephen Thompson is the Sustainable Agriculture Facilitator in the North Coast region.
Through active involvement and promoting a harmonious relationship between agriculture, land management and the environment Stephen provides the extension services needed to support and improve farmers’ knowledge and uptake of climate-smart practices.
