Professional Wild Dog Controller Program
Background
The Professional Wild Dog Controller Program is a joint effort between the Hunter Valley Combined Wild Dog Association (containing 11 member organisations), Hunter Local Land Services and a number of major stakeholder investors, working with landholders across a diverse landscape and tenure to protect livestock in the Upper Hunter.
The four-year program will expand on present control arrangements and integrate with existing local wild dog management plans.
From this Expression of Interest period, a pool of Professional Wild Dog Controllers will be established to participate in both strategic, planned periods of control work and also reactive work in direct response to livestock attacks.

Criteria
To submit your expression of interest, applicants will have to demonstrate the ability to meet all of the following criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in using all best practice techniques available (trapping, baiting, howling up and shooting) in wild dog control. With an extensive resume in trapping problem wild dogs that have been killing livestock in often-challenging situations.
- Must be able to investigate livestock attack incidents, read each situation and engage the best practice methods to the situation that is presented.
- Good people skills with the ability to communicate with producers program coordinators and other key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capacity to meet Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Own and use ‘working trap dogs’ is highly recommended but not critical in all circumstances.
- Ability to use digital trail cameras GPS and maintain and submit records as directed.
- Current NSW firearms licence (genuine reason vertebrate pest contract shoot).
- OEH NPWS Level 1 and 2 firearms training (or equivalent).
- AQF3 level chemical training or LLS Vertebrate Pesticide Induction training including Canid Pest Ejector (CPE) Training.
- Public liability of not less than $20 million and indemnify the HVCWDA against liability.
- A workers compensation policy where required.
- Full comprehensive vehicle insurance.
- Capacity to undertake inductions and satisfy requirements for various mining companies and government agency (NPWS) land managers.
- Ability to clearly report results in a timely and professional manner, using the latest available technologies.
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience and success in removing difficult dogs from situations where livestock are being impacted.
From the tender process, a list of preferred Professional Wild Dog Controllers will be established and will be called upon as needed for multiple programs lasting between 10 to 30 days.
