Did you catch this week’s episode of Landline?

ABC Journalist Donal Sheil interviewed our local Biosecurity Officers for the program, who have been monitoring and responding to the current locust situation in the Moree area.

It is likely that there will be another round of locust hatching in March and we need to be prepared.

We ask that landholders report any suspected locust sightings to a Local Land Services Biosecurity Officer by phoning 1300 799 295. If you are not sure what to look for, please ask us and we can help.

Please report any locust swarms and look for egg laying behaviour. If you spot locust egg beds, record the location of the egg beds, notify Local Land Services and monitor for hatching.

Uncontrolled locusts are a major risk and monitoring the situation closely is the only way we can get on top of the next round of hatching quickly to protect crops and pastures.
