POSTPONED: Plains-wanderer information day (Mossgiel)

Unfortunately we've had to postpone the event. If you want to find out when the new date is set, please contact Andrea Cashmere (0417 050 138, who can add your name to the interest list.

Come along to this information day and not only learn about the Plains-wanderer — what it is and what is being done to recover it — but find out what assistance is available to landholders and community groups to help protect this bird. Several expert presenters will inform attendees on this critically endangered bird, as well as provide a pest animal and weed update across the Western region.

  • David Parker, Senior Threatened Species Officer with the Dept of Planning, Industry & Environment. David will share his vast knowledge about the Plains-wanderer, answering — who is this bird? Where does it like to live? What’s being done to protect it and how can landholders help its plight?
  • Tony Buckmaster, Research and Development Manager with the Centre for Invasive Species. Tony works to improve community awareness, understanding its capacity with regard to pest animal management. Tony strives to implement best practice pest animal management to maintain or improve threatened species populations and improve agricultural productivity.
  • Western Local Land Services Biosecurity Officers. Local staff members will provide an update on what is happening in the pest animal and weed space across the Western region, and what services are available to manage, control and eradicate these pests. Fox predation is one of the biggest threats to the survival of the Plains-wanderer. Free 1080 fox baits will be given to landholders who attend the day, providing they hold a 1080 or HQFS card.

Catering: Lunch will be provided and children are welcome to attend. Please RSVP for catering purposes by Monday 21 September. Please don’t bring any work dogs or pets.

This event is funded through Catchment Action NSW. COVID-19 protocols will be adhered to at this field day including appropriate social distancing, the provision of hand sanitiser and individual food portioning.
