NLIS Integrity Systems Database Workshops - Griffith
Are you trying to get your head around National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) database transfers?
The National Livestock Identification System is Australia’s system for the identification and traceability of cattle, sheep and goats and allows us to track livestock movement right from their property of birth, through the supply chain as they are sold, bought, and moved.
For our NSW producers, your NLIS obligation is legislated in the Biosecurity Act 2015 and in the supporting Biosecurity (National Livestock Identification System) Regulation 2017. As producers you also agree to comply with this legislation when you join the Livestock Production Assurance scheme. Your NLIS database is reviewed when LPA conduct their audits.
One of the roles of our district vets and biosecurity officers is monitoring for compliance with the National Livestock Identification System at saleyards, an important component of the ongoing effort to protect our export markets.
We are offering support to assist producers in setting up and using the NLIS Integrity Systems database. Monthly tutorial sessions will be held at two Riverina office locations, where staff will be available to help you navigate the NLIS database to meet your obligations.
Sessions will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from 9 am to 11 am at the DPI Site conference room, 200 Murray Road Hanwood, and from 2 pm – 4 pm at Local Land Services, 87 Sheridan Street Gundagai.
