Boosting reproduction and profitability in your sheep enterprise webinar

Livestock producers across the North West are invited to a free webinar on Thursday 4 June when industry experts will share their resources and advice to maximise your reproduction and profitability in 2020 and beyond.

Hosted by North West Local Land Services, producers will hear from Gordon Refshauge, NSW Department of Industry’s Research Officer, Brett Smith, Elders District Wool Manager for Northern NSW and Kate McCarthy, Southern Queensland and North West Local Land Services Livestock Officer.

Gordon is a Research Officer in the field of Maternal Efficiency and is based at Cowra Agricultural Research and Advisory Station. His professional expertise is well known across the Australian sheep industry, providing producers with strategic reproduction knowledge including nutritional requirements, production limitations and lamb survival methods. Local landholders will also be familiar with Local Land Services Kate McCarthy, known for her all-round experience in livestock management, pasture management, biosecurity and natural resources

The June webinar will focus on:

  • Managing pregnant ewes and survival rates of lambs
  • Metabolic diseases common in ewe’s gestation and how to manage them
  • How to best control nutrition – discussing nutrient requirements and pros and cons of forage crops
  • Tools and resources, you can implement immediately to improve reproduction

Following the success of the Local Land Services first live webinar and the increased interest from landholders requesting online learning and networking opportunities, Ms McCarthy says the event is easily accessed for all ages and stages off tech literacy.

“Not only are we hosting this event at a time that works for landholders, we’ve made it simple to register for this event via our website and Facebook page. Local landholders are also welcome to call us so we can offer initial support in their transition to virtual meetings over the phone.

“We are excited to have such a well-qualified speaker to offer advice that can help guide local producers through these uncertain times and provide them with effective, profitable production tools for use in their farm business” she said.

Book your virtual seat or call Kate McCarthy on 0428 043 243
