Would you like to upgrade your old block and chain mooring to a safe and secure Environmentally Friendly Mooring?
Hunter Local Land Services is offering a 50% rebate to eligible mooring holders in Lake Macquarie to upgrade their block and chain mooring to a safe and secure Environmentally Friendly Moorings.
Environmentally Friendly Moorings have been independently tested and certified. These designs safely securing the vessels in extreme conditions by using shock absorbers that prevent mooring tackle coming into contact with the seabed and damaging sensitive seagrass habitats.
By switching to Environmentally Friendly Moorings boaters can help Lake Macquarie’s seagrass maintain water quality and provide food and habitat for a range of fish and crustaceans that are vital for commercial and recreational fishing. Seagrass is also an important habitat for iconic species such as seahorses and threatened sea turtles.
A 50% rebate is being offered to all mooring holders in Lake Macquarie for two types of Environmentally Friendly Moorings: the Seagrass Friendly Mooring and Eco Mooring.
Eligible mooring holders can apply for either:
- A full upgrade from a conventional block and chain mooring to an Environmentally Friendly Mooring. Total cost of upgrade is $3,300 (including GST). A rebate of $1,650 is available to upgrade to either type of mooring.
- A partial upgrade of a conventional block and chain mooring to an Environmentally Friendly Mooring, involving retrofitting of mooring blocks with environmentally friendly mooring tackle only. The cost of a partial upgrade (including GST) for the Seagrass Friendly Mooring is $1,980 (rebate $990) and the Eco Mooring tackle is $1,430 (rebate $715).
