Riverbank Rehabilitation Program
Following severe storms and floods across the Hunter, Greater Sydney and North Coast regions in February and March 2021, the NSW and Australian governments have committed $18.46 million to support the long-term rehabilitation and futureproofing of flood damaged riverbanks.
Marine Estate Program
A collaboration between North Coast Local Land Services, 34 landholders and Ballina Shire Council in the Alstonville plateau has seen improvement works carried out that will increase ecological function, help mitigate pollutants entering waterways and increase bank stability during flooding events in the Emigrant creek sub-catchment
Every Bit Counts
Small farms and lifestyle blocks play an important role in managing the patchwork of natural environment across the landscape. Despite their small size, many of these properties have native vegetation, creeks and dams and other features which provide valuable habitat for native animals, provide important services to the natural environment and contribute to productive farming.
The Every Bit Counts program has been developed to provide small landholders with workshops, field days and resources on topics including weed management, habitat protection, pest animal control and opportunities to develop skills in sustainable land management.
