Local Land Services role in floods
NSW DPI and Local Land Services work together to manage the effects of emergencies on agriculture, livestock and our community as Agriculture and Animal Services Functional Area (AASFA). A key component is to coordinate support including rescue, evacuation, emergency care of livestock and livestock welfare.
Flood Preparation
It’s very hard to respond to a flood efficiently without the proper preparation and planning, as is the case with most natural disasters.
Planning will not only protect your home, property and business, you also have an obligation to protect your livestock and pets from drowning.

Flood Recovery
Local Land Services supports landholders to recover from the impacts of natural disaster including flood, fire and drought. Support includes on-farm advisory as well as long-term ongoing capacity building and skills development through major programs and projects.
Emergency flood plan and other resources
If you require other assistance due to flood and storm emergencies, please phone NSW State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500. In life-threatening emergencies call triple zero (000).
The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) has created an emergency floodsafe plan for your household or business. They also provide resources to help you prepare an Animal Emergency Plan for your livestock and other animals.

The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment also provides information on surface and groundwater management as well as real-time water information and data.
The Department of Planning, Industry and Environment works with the community and wildlife rehabilitation groups to rescue and care for injured and distressed native wildlife in an emergency, such as prolonged drought, or after fire or flood.
