Chair of Local Land Services
Richard Bull is Acting Chair of the Local Land Services Board of Chairs. Richard is a sheep producer with his own agricultural consultancy business. He spent more than 16 years on the NSW Legislative Council and was an inaugural member of the Murray Local Land Services Board. He was appointed Chair of the Murray Local Land Services Board in March 2017.
Richard has an affinity with rural NSW, having lived on the land his entire life. He moved from Narrandera nearly 30 years ago to the Murray region near Holbrook where he is part of a successful farming partnership which operates a prime lamb seed stock business.
He operates a part-time issues management consulting practice, which includes undertaking policy reviews for the NSW Government with recent involvement in a grazing trial in selected national parks in south west NSW for the Office of Environment and Heritage as well as the Riverina Firewood and Heating Taskforce, where he chaired a taskforce investigating the future supply of firewood in south west NSW and investigating future heating alternatives.
Richard was involved with the review of the Rural Lands Protection Board system and rating system which involved extensive stakeholder engagement and resulted in significant changes to the organisation.
More recently Richard was Chairman of Water for Rivers, a public company formed to fund infrastructure projects to return water savings to the Snowy and Murray rivers. The company funded projects totalling $450 million over 10 years.
He is a past Chairman of Water for Rivers, Sheep Genetics Australia, Beef Genetics Review and Lamb Lot-feeding Review.
